Why is Chest Fat So Hard to Lose?

Posted by Yeremi Akpan

A lot of persons trying to lose their chest fat focus their exercise efforts on their chest and pectoral region.  They do push-ups, bench presses and so on. This a big mistake that has cost a many a huge loss in both time and energy in their battle with man boobs.

The truth is, it is not possible to lose weight by exercising your chest muscles. That would have helped prevent the chest fat build up. Sadly, it cannot be used to remove the fat.

Why is this?

You see, we cannot selectively burn fat in specific locations in our body. When we make changes in both our diet and lifestyle and start doing aerobics like swimming, running etc, we burn fat, but what we burn is body fat, general body fat and not just chest fat.

So which part of your body fat goes first?

There is no way to tell, for by a large extent your genes have the call. If you are finding it hard to remove your chest fat, then maybe your genes may be programmed to remove chest fat after it has shed fat in other parts of the body. That, in fact, is the case for most persons.

So if you are obsessed with losing chest fat, you may exercise for months and still cannot see any results! But in truth, you would have burned lots of fat (in your face, your arms, your thighs, your belly, even your butt), but since you were so focused on your chest, you did not notice all the good results you were getting in other regions.

Is this fair?

Take your minds back to when you started putting on weight. Did the chest fat come first? Most likely not, unless you have a case of gynecomastia. You likely put weight in your butt, your thighs, even your face without noticing it. But when your chest suddenly starts to swell out, alarm bells ring and you start working out the chest region.

To lose weight, it is only natural that your fat goes in the order in which it came, the easy to gain fat first, and then the hard to gain fat. That surely should make sense to you. It took a sequence to gain your chest fat, so why should you expect it off by spending a couple of weeks in the gym?

Is that why bench press and push up does not work?

Yes. Push-ups and bench press works out only your pectoral region, whereas, to lose chest fat you need to work out your whole body. So no matter how much effort you spend trying to firm up your chest, you will only succeed in burning a few calories at best from where your body is programmed to burn fat first.

The best exercise to lose man boobs is one that burns as many calories of general body fat as possible. It should engage all the muscle groups in your body and put them in an overdrive-state. Then and only the will meaningful fat loss begin to occur, and remember, it will be in the order your genes have programmed your fat loss.

When you start exercising, your goal should first of all be to lose weight, and not chest fat. This is because it will you will lose tons of weight around other parts of your body before the fat in your chest begins to give an inch. So it is important not to measure the success of your exercise by looking at your chest in the mirror.

If you need to look at something, then look at your face, your belly, you thighs. You will surely see good results there to keep you motivated to continue your weight loss program. When you have burned fat in other regions, as a final resort, your body will turn to the fat in your chest, and gradually, burn it away.
